Open University Malaysia, abbreviated as OUM, is the 7th Malaysian private university and it is owned by the Multimedia Technology Enhancement Operations Sdn. Bhd, a consortium of 11 Malaysian public universities. It leverages on the quality, prestige and capabilities of its consortium.
Bachelors – Eligibility
The eligibility of Bachelors Degree courses are Higher Secondary Certificate from any recognized Board (CBSE/NIOS/State Board) or G.C.E. or IGCSE – ‘O’ Level with 5 subjects & ‘A’ Level with 3 subjects (ENGLISH compulsory in ‘O’ level) or BTEC/TQUK Level 3 or IUFP
In August 1999, the Minister of Education invited Multimedia Technology Enhancement Operations Sdn Bhd (METEOR), a consortium of 11 public universities in the country, to set up an open university.
This led to the establishment of OUM in August 2000 followed by its launch on 26 August 2002 by the then Prime Minister of Malaysia, YAB Dato’ Seri Dr Mahathir Mohamad. With the motto “University for All”, OUM believes in the democratization of education, giving everyone a chance at self-actualization and fulfilling their potential.

Bachelor of Business Administration BBA (Honours)
The Bachelor in Business Administration (Honours) programme is designed to equip learners with essential management acumen necessary for assuming managerial positions in business organizations. The curriculum is designed to produce graduates who are sensitive to the changing business environmental influences and responsive to new ideas in resolving emerging issues confronting business organizations.
Bachelor of Psychology
This is an open and distance learning programme with the aim of helping learners to have better understanding of human nature and behaviour. The programme covers a wide range of topics including introduction to psychology, social psychology, introduction to clinical psychology, test and measurement, developmental psychology, personality, health psychology, behaviour modification , motivation, entrepreneurial and productivity psychology, organisational and cognitive psychology.
This programme will ensure that graduates have a better opportunity in career advancement
BIT – Bachelor of Information Technology
BHRM – Bachelor of Human Resource Managment
The programme is designed to produce graduates that would satisfy the country’s need for trained personnel in human resource management. The programme emphasises both breadth (basic knowledge in the various functional areas in management) as well as depth (in the field of human resource management itself).

Programme Synopsis
The Master of Psychology (MPSY) programme is offered by the Cluster of Education and Social Sciences (CESS) as another postgraduate programme in OUM. It is specially designed to expand your knowledge, sharpen your critical thinking skills and teach you how to evaluate problems and find solutions. They cover all key professional competencies and provide you with critical communication skills you need to be successful. You will also have the opportunity to develop valuable research skills.
